Seven things to know today

Madame & Monsieur cheese toasties

Brindisa opens for breakfast

London’s most popular Spanish restaurant group’s Soho site is now open for breakfast. The restaurant will introduce desayuno tostas and tostadas — toasts, with Bread Ahead bread — from Monday to Friday from 8am-11am at Brindisa Soho. ‘The Mahon y Sobrasada’ (tangy, pimenton rind-washed cheese with spicy and soft island sausage, similar to nduja) sounds like a fortifying way to start the day.

Woody Bear is a new winter rooftop pop-up at 535 Oxford Street, London where croque-monsieur street food vendors Madame & Monsieur will offer a bespoke series of grilled cheese sandwiches including three signature croques; Le French, Le Swiss and Le Welsh, along with changing specials and hot cocktails. London Raclette on potatoes, served from a 6kg wheel will also be available. Meanwhile, this November, The Cheese Bar will attempt to bring an Alpine flavour to Camden as they launch “Fondue Thursdays,” in partnership with cast iron specialists STAUB. Each week will see a special fondue menu take over the restaurant until Christmas.

The five course menu is £295 per person.
