It has finally been confirmed that chef Andrew Wong will join the Bloomberg Arcade development and open his second restaurant in the spring of 2018.
The chef, whose restaurant A. Wong in Victoria was recently awarded its first Michelin star, joins a line-up that appears purposefully designed to raise the credibility of the The City’s restaurant offering. The first four of 10 restaurants are now open: Vinoteca, Caravan City, Bleecker and Homeslice.
Although it has not yet confirmed, it is thought that the restaurant will be called Madame Wong. Much bigger than the original, the 3,330 sq ft site will sit at street level within the new development and “will offer a premium casual, all day dining menu based on Andrew’s creative interpretation of classic Chinese dishes.”
Wong said: “I’ve been considering the idea of somewhere we would be able to open all day for a while. When the opportunity for the Bloomberg Arcade came along, we knew it would be perfect.”
This will be the chef’s first restaurant since launching the lauded A. Wong, with his wife Natalie, in 2012. The chef will open the new site in partnership with White Rabbit Fund, the company behind Island Poke and Kricket.
