James Gummer — former maître d’ at The Wolseley and currently at Isabel — has signed on premises for his first restaurant in Notting Hill, as reported by Big Hospitality.
Located at 7 All Saints Road and named as such, it’s described as a “seasonal modern European restaurant” which “believes in the value of community.” Gummer purchased the site from much-loved neighbourhood restaurant Ripe Tomato, which was founded more than 20 years ago by Ethel Coley and maintained by her family.
Details are currently scant, with development in its early stages, but first impressions of a menu include iberico ham paired with grilled endive and sherry vinegar, as well as wild duck with jerusalem artichoke, blackberries and parsnip crisps. The classicism of the cooking matches with Gummer’s pedigree, and given the ubiquity of the flavour combinations described, the “modern” element of the aforementioned seasonal European doesn’t jump out just yet.
