Deliveroo — the restaurant delivery company which over the past three months has posted record losses, announced new growth strategies, taken massive investment, failed to comply with regulations, suggested it will float on the stock market, and done a press stunt with a Game of Thrones character — has now announced a new revenue stream, a premium plan: Deliveroo Plus was quietly introduced to the app last week.
Push notifications were sent out to users over the weekend under the headline: “Enjoy unlimited free delivery.” Details of the plan appear scarce, though as well as being invited to take on a 1-month free trial — which a portion of users could neglect to ever cancel — the key selling point appears to be the advertised “Free delivery on every order.” That is despite the option costing £7.99 per month.
Exclusive offers from selected restaurants will also be available to ‘plus’ users, though the only brands currently on board with this initiative appear to be Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Pho. It is thought that more will be announced over the coming weeks.
Stay tuned for more details as they are released.
