Trainspotting or celeb spotting? Director Danny Boyle was seen dining at Bocca di Lupo on Saturday night, capping off a starry week for the restaurant. Both actor Dominic Cooper and adventurer Bear Grylls had been sighted at the Soho Italian in days prior.
Catherine Zeta-Jones made a flying visit to London this week to host the Walpole British Luxury Awards. While she was in town, she couldn't resist catching up with her old dad David: the pair took tea at The Dorchester Hotel on Sunday. Starting with jam, then adding the cream, Zeta-Jones clearly favours the Cornish approach. Devon purists will be livid.
Model Amber Le Bon and Molly Moorish — the young daughter of Liam Gallagher —dined at The Ivy Soho Brasserie on Monday night. Dinner was hosted by jewellery brand Missoma, with the crowd treated to necklaces and sprigs of sage before presenter Billie JD Porter retired for a lavatory selfie.
The Made in Chelsea crowd ventured a few miles into town on Tuesday night as Louise Thompson, one of the show’s longest running Sloanes, held court at ME London Hotel’s restaurant STK which serves — guess what?! — STEAK. Launching a new fashion collection, she dined with Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts and fellow MiC “star” Stephanie Pratt.
Boris Becker turned 50 on Wednesday, and marked the occasion with a double, starting with lunch at The Ivy. For dinner, he chose C, the Italian restaurant on Mayfair’s Davies Street, where he was seen celebrating with his wife Lilly Becker and sons Noah and Elias — he shared a sweet snap with the Becker Boys on Instagram the next day. C is a mere stone's throw from Nobu, the Japanese hotspot where Becker once had a particularly memorable evening in 1999. No such antics at C, the author is assured.
Whatever happened to being fashionably late? Vogue Magazine had its staff Christmas Party on Wednesday, more than a month before the big day. The Chiltern Firehouse did the honours of hosting. Edward Enninful, the magazine's new editor, celebrated his first festive season at the publication, with model and presenter Alexa Chung joining him for dinner and drinks as Vogue’s beloved snapper Darren Gerrish circled the crowd.
On Thursday, designer Henry Holland threw a party at Carousel, the simple-yet-chic restaurant on Marylebone’s Blandford Street. Singer Ella Eyre and model Edie Campbell joined him to toast the quaffed party boy’s new collaboration with wine brand Bird In Hand. The wine washed down the culinary offerings of tuna tartar, burrata with roast pumpkin and squash, and pistachio crusted salmon.
