With the recent news that Jacob Kenedy and Victor Hugo’s Vico had permanently closed, rumours emerged that Shake Shack had acquired the lease. Now, the US burger chain confirmed to Eater that it has. The site, on one of central London’s busiest crossroads, was formerly a Pizza Hut, is opposite a McDonald’s and sits in the heart of Theatreland.
According to the operators, the branch will have several distinguishing features. Among them, and most interestingly, signage inspired by the neighbouring theatres will illuminate the square and inside. There’s no word if there will be chicken fingers on the menu but rumour has it that creative director Marc Rosati will be collaborating with London’s The Skinny Bib on a dish.
No specific date has been announced but the opening is planned for the second week of October. Check back for more details soon, and send intel through the tipline at london@eater.com.
