Jean-Georges at The Connaught will offer takeaway pizza
New York-based French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is opening his eponymous restaurant at The Connaught Hotel in Mayfair on Thursday 27 July. In a surprise announcement, he has informed Big Hospitality that takeaway pizza will be available from the restaurant. There will be a full service a la carte offering in place too. Since the project was announced, emphasis has been on a more a casual approach. Check back here next week for more details and a look inside the new opening.
temper City opens today after chef Neil Rankin sends a message to the haters
The second outpost for Neil Rankin’s grilled meat restaurant opens today in Angel Court in the City. In a curious Instagram post before last night’s press party Rankin referred to his “15th new business opening”, telling his followers: “If you haven't got an invite and this vexes you maybe get over yourself. I don't do the invites, it's for press and really if you're a friend you won't care. But if you are coming then you're clearly more important to me than the people that are not so try to have fun, say nice things...” temper City is at 30 Throgmorton Street, EC2R 7HJ.
Simon Hulstone brings The Elephant to the roof of John Lewis on Oxford Street
The John Lewis Gardening Society are bringing Michelin-starred Torquay restaurant, The Elephant, to London this August. It will run until the end of September.

Alistair Maddox has opened Silver Lining on Hackney Walk
The owners of Every Cloud on Hackney Walk have opened a “seasonal”, “small plates”, “casual dining” restaurant next door to their bar. It had to be in E9, didn’t it. The bar and restaurant are run by Alistair Maddox who for 10 years ran Broadway Market. It joins Magnus Reid’s Legs, Temple of Hackney and Farley Macallan on Hackney Walk.
Lyle’s sous chef Chris Trundle at P. Franco
Before Giuseppe Belvedere takes up his residency, P. Franco’s rotating chef appearances continue — this weekend it’s the turn of Lyle’s sous chef Chris Trundle. He’ll be taking over the induction hobs Friday and Saturday from 6 – 10pm and Sunday from 3 – 9pm.
Margheritas and margaritas
If Da Michele in Stoke Newington surprised Londoners with their lean offering — two pizzas: a marinara or margherita — then a London Fields Brewery pop-up in August is taking it one step nearer, Hot Dinners report.
