The small Hackney cocktail bar Behind This Wall will host a series of guest chef nights in October — it will be called “E is the magic number.” Why? Because all chefs and restaurateurs come from within the E1-E9 postcodes in east London.
The line-up — taking over a kitchen that is 5 x 3 ft with no extraction — includes Carl Clarke (Chick ‘n’ Sours, 4 October), Magnus Reid (Legs, 18 October), Dave Wrigley and Tom Wykes (Tonkotsu, 11 October) and Rob Sachdev (Quality Chop House, 25 October), who will each be serving some of their signatures, suitable to match with drinks: “Eat The Bits” Chilli Wings from Tonkotsu, Magnus Reid’s Fish Crudo and, it is rumoured, Carl Clarke’s Chinese-Mexican fusion fajitas.

The chefs will also takeover a custom one-deck hi-fi (previously owned by Martin Hannett from Joy Division). Clarke will play his trademark rave, reggae and ska, whilst Reid will take things in a slightly different direction with some hardcore thrash metal. Booking is recommended, via this link. Food will be served 7–9pm.
