Cookies Cream from Berlin to Hyde Park

Pioneering vegetarian restaurant Cookies Cream from Berlin will come to London for one night only on Thursday 19 October.

Said to be one of Berlin’s best vegetarian restaurants, Cookies Cream is celebrating its tenth birthday this year with a tour of Europe, collaborating with three kitchens: Ibiza Zürich and London — at Zaha Hadid-designed Magazine Restaurant at the Serpentine Gallery in Hyde Park.

Owner ‘Cookie’ Heinz Gindulis and chef Stephan Hentschel launched Cookies Cream, a purely vegetarian fine dining restaurant in 2007, "focusing on innovative and experimental cooking, impeccable sourcing and sustainable farming." Most of the vegetables and herbs are grown in Cookies’ garden in Krielow, Brandenburg. Hentschel’s four-course menu for the London dinner will be paired with wines handpicked from the restaurant’s list with emphasis on natural, organic and biodynamic varieties. Thursday 19 October, 7pm cocktails, 7.30pm dinner.

Pergola in Paddington reopens for winter

Fully weatherproofed and ready for winter, Pergola Paddington Central re-opens from 25 October until 23 December, with space for 850 people to enjoy ramen from Tonkotsu, burgers from Patty & Bun, tacos from DF Mexico, pizza from Made of Dough, and bagels from Little Ghost Bagels. There are two jolly bars, and you can book for groups of four and up — very party friendly.

The Watch House open third site

A third Watch House coffee shop is to open on Fetter Lane in Holborn on Monday 25 September, doubling as an after-work cocktail and tapas bar open until 10pm Monday to Friday. From 7am, there will be coffee roasted by Ozone in Shoreditch, handmade sandwiches, baguettes, and salads, as well as hot and brunchy food all day, made with organic and/or locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Owner Roland Home, whose previous incarnation was in architectural design, was attracted to the site by its “unusual roof curvature”, and has incorporated a suspended garden, grass roof, floor to ceiling windows and bespoke bar into the interior. Home owns two existing Watch House coffee shops on Bermondsey Street and Shad Thames.
