Yen — the Japanese fine-dining and hand-made soba (buckwheat) noodle restaurant — is opening on London’s Strand in November, they have announced via their website.
The noodles are prepared and cut fresh ahead of every service, twice daily, and served on a menu that will also include sushi, sashimi, tempura, robata-grills and other traditional Japanese dishes. The soba noodles will be prepared from inside a dedicated ‘Soba Room.’
The brand, whose only other location is in Paris’ Saint-Germain-de-Prés neighbourhood, first opened in 2000. The London site is situated in the new luxury residential development, 190 Strand. The space will have an open kitchen and sushi counter — in a room dominated by blonde wood — as well as a private room within the main restaurant. A cocktail bar will be positioned on a mezzanine; and there’ll be a terrace with outside seating.
Yen is owned by Onward Holdings Co. Ltd. — one of the largest fashion houses in Japan, established in the 1920’s.
