Serge Becker — the New York City restaurateur and nightclub owner — is rumoured to be bringing his Miss Lily’s brand to London. With two New York locations and one in Dubai, it is a self-styled “Caribbean oasis,” which includes a Jamaican style diner and juice bar and a Caribbean rum bar and jerk shack.
Eater London understands from sources that the operator is looking at a site on Frith Street in Soho, central London.
Becker operates the majority of his businesses in New York: his portfolio includes La Esquina, The Box, Joe's Pub and Café Select.
The restaurateur’s first project in London — La Bodega Negra, a joint venture with Will Ricker, the London-based restaurateur behind E&O, XO and Eight over Eight — opened in 2012. At the time, it was reported, by one newspaper, as “The Manhattan maestro bringing cool to London.”
Were Becker to bring Miss Lily’s to London, it would fit into a wider trend of restaurants from across the Atlantic setting up in London. In addition to Shake Shack’s UK expansion, P.F. Chang’s recent opening and Red Farm looks poised to open in Covent Garden.
No timescale for the Miss Lily’s London project are yet known. More details will be published as soon as they’re made available.
