The renowned executive head chef of Michelin-starred Jamavar and recently-opened Bombay Bustle, Rohit Ghai, will leave his post at the end of this month, the chef has told Eater London.
Ghai, who previously worked for two other Michelin-starred Indian restaurants in London — Trishna and Gymkhana — oversaw the opening of Jamavar at the end of 2016, a restaurant that has gone on to receive numerous accolades, culminating in recognition from the Red Guide in October last year. The chef subsequently went on to open Bombay Bustle (previously planned to be called Dabbawala) on Maddox Street in the same month.
The departure of Ghai represents a big loss for the owners of Jamavar, who have announced that they will instate the Leela Group’s culinary director Surender Mohan as head chef in the meantime.
And although rumours are circulating that Ghai is considering projects in India, Eater understands that the chef is on the verge of a big move within London. Check back for more information on that story soon.
