California star takes up coveted guest slot at Lyle’s
James Syhabout, owner of two Michelin-starred restaurant Commis and celebrated Isaan Thai restaurant Hawker Fare, will cook at Michelin-starred Shoreditch restaurant Lyle’s on 16 and 17 October. His precise and elegant cooking draws influence from his parent’s Thai restaurant as well as his time spent in the kitchens of El Bulli & The Fat Duck: both Commis and Hawker Fare have become global bywords for Oakland and San Francisco’s restaurant excellence. Jamie Oliver rebounds from huge losses
Jamie Oliver expects to finish paying off his creditors this month after reporting £29 million in losses in 2017. The agreement includes closing 12 under performing restaurants and operating eight others with reduced rents, according to Big Hospitality. Jon Knight, chief executive of the Jamie Oliver Restaurant group, remains optimistic that the “company will perform well and meet its future growth objectives” with a new strategy & menu.
Theo Randall rolls out another collaboration, basing things on plants
Theo Randall is collaborating with Coliici & The Royal Parks to open a heathy new cafe in time for summer 2019, according to Hot Dinners. Rather than sticking to the Italian fare he is known for, this cafe will focus on healthy and vegan options. Dishes may include crunchy coconut bircher muesli and the inevitable açai bowl, alongside soups, juices, smoothies & gelato.
Rumours of a new home for Soho House
CODE ‘s Dumb Waiter is whispering of a new home for Soho House in its weekly newsletter. Rumour has it that the members club is opening branches in Rome and Milan, both taking Italian restaurant Cecconi’s with them — Lazy Susan was unavailable for comment.
