Fortnum and Mason has opened its first restaurant and bar in the City, at the Royal Exchange. An all-day menu is long on premium smoked fish, shellfish, and caviar, as well as retro classic desserts, like a knickerbocker glory; it opens 311 years after the flagship Piccadilly site. Greek takeaway specialists will open in Canary Wharf
The Athenian will open its sixth London site in Wharf Kitchen, an upcoming market hall — yes, another one — in Jubilee Place. It will join the likes of Ahi Poke, Bird, and Mama’s Jerk, sticking to the tried-and-tested souvlaki and gyros formula that has seen it open at Boxpark Shoreditch, White City Place, Victoria, and Tooting Market.
