Elite Bistro’s of the World braves London for a single night
Gary Usher will cook with Angela Hartnett at her Michelin-starred restaurant Murano, on 13 November. The menu will include pheasant agnolotti with braising juices and grated walnut, and a custard tart, for which Usher’s restaurant Hispi, in Didsbury, is particularly famous. 5 courses will ring in at £95. Usher recently caused a minor kerfuffle on food Twitter after saying he was looking at a Hackney site; the restaurateur, now overseeing five restaurants with a sixth to open in 2019, has previously said he would never open in the capital.
Ramen specialists return to Soho two years later
Yamagoya will reopen in Soho two years after its 2016 pop-up. The ramen restaurant, currently resident in Waterloo, will open on the site of Shuang Shuang, which will move upstairs at 64 Shaftesbury Avenue.
Marcus Wareing looking unimpressed returns to the nation’s screens
Chefs Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing have reprised their roles as judges on Masterchef: The Professionals, alongside former greengrocer Greg(g) Wallace. The series started last night (6 November); stand by for Eater’s full round-up. Hopefully the chance to skewer gallant no-hopers will balm Wareing’s wounds; the chef lost his second Michelin star at his eponymous Knightsbridge restaurant last month.
Comfort Americana devotees finish east London residency in three weeks
Rita’s Dining will finish its residency at Redchurch Brewery in Cambridge Heath 1 December. Missy Flynn and Gabe Pryce’s restaurant — opening a deli and bodega at Coal Drops Yard this week — is in search of a new home.
Chicago craft brewery opens two doors down from craft beer pub
Goose Island will open its first European brewpub in Shoreditch on 21 November. Best known for its IPA, the pub will open two doors down from the award-winning, very busy Crown and Shuttle on Shoreditch High Street.
