The high-profile London-based mixologist Tony Conigliaro has announced he will partner with Japanese beer brand Asahi Super Dry to launch the “Moon Garden” at his Dalston restaurant and bar, Untitled, this summer. It will officially open on Friday 18 May.
The 20-cover area, accessible to the rear of the bar on Kingsland Road, will offer a new al fresco dining and drinking venue for the summer months. As well as a beer bar, which will serve Asahi Japanese beer on tap, there will be an extended sake list and garden cocktail menu. The space has been designed by Jasmin Sohi and Tom Holberton who run the studio Soho & Co. The duo say they hope to have created “a zen space, inspired by historic Japanese temple gardens.”
Each weekend, the garden will offer Japanese-style yakitori open-grill cooking. Meat and vegetable skewer options will be available (as well as a vegan option), from 6pm through to 10pm every Saturday and Sunday. More interestingly, on selected Sundays throughout the summer, guest chefs from London restaurants will collaborate on one-off yakitori skewer menus: alongside options from Untitled’s executive chef, Rob Roy Cameron (ex-El Bulli), restaurants in the confirmed line-up for the yakitori series include Soho udon noodle bar Koya, as well as Peckham neighbourhood restaurant Aside.
Furthermore, Cameron will has confirmed the next date for monthly tasting menu in the restaurant: Thursday 10 May. No details are given other than it will be a “five-course feast [that] utilises the best in seasonal produce, and also includes a welcome drink and some ‘surprises’.” It costs £45 per person. The tasting menu is also available in the Moon Garden, subject to London’s unpredictable weather.
Conigliaro opened Untitled in March 2017. The drinks list at the bar is curated by Conigliaro and his team at the Drink Factory. The mixologist also runs a group that includes his original bar, 69 Colebroke Row, as well as Bar Termini Soho and Centrale, Untitled and Luciole. He is also involved in Jim’s Cafe in Clapton and will launch his latest project Gazelle, with Cameron, in Mayfair next month.
