Another day, another packed night at Gymkhana. The Mayfair Indian restaurant from JKS had TV host James Corden, singer Ed Sheeran and actor Neil Patrick Harris in for dinner on Friday night.
Little Mix must really love Mexican food: most members of the band have been spotted at Covent Garden’s Cantina Laredo in recent months. On Saturday night it was the turn of Jesy Nelson, the one who famously attempted (and failed) at speaking with a Jamaican accent, who ordered a round of margaritas and dined on tacos with friends.
The Office star Ricky Gervais was in Belsize Park on Sunday, enjoying a spot of brunch at the Belsize Kitchen close to his Hampstead home. The family-owned cafe is a local favourite known for European classics.
Down the road in Primrose Hill, Homeland actor Damian Lewis and his wife, Peaky Blinders star Helen McCrory, grabbed a spot of Sunday lunch. They ate at The Lansdowne pub, which does a mean roast.
Kill Your Friends novelist John Niven and The Thick Of It writer Ian Martin had lunch at Bocca di Lupo, Jacob Kenedy’s restaurant, on Sunday. Martin scared his friends and fans on Twitter by suggesting that Niven had ordered a whole lettuce for lunch but later set the record straight: “Niven and I had had beers and wine and offal and pastas and assorted meats and brandy. The lettuce turned up at the end as an ill-conceived afterthought.”
Singer and Skoda representative Paloma Faith was at Spring, the Somerset House restaurant, on Monday night. The popular, vegetable-focused menu is by Skye Gyngell, whose minimalist cooking helped win Petersham Nurseries in Richmond a Michelin star when she was in charge.
Anatolian restaurant Ruya recently opened its doors, and welcomed a few stars for dinner there on Monday night. Model Lisa Snowdon, actress Tara Fitzgerald and fashion designer Julien Macdonald tried the Turkish fare including isli patlican — aubergine pureé with walnuts, crispy coated aubergine chips — levrek, keskek and two-cheese pide.
Actor Orlando Bloom headed to the Leicester Square Kitchen on Monday evening, where he unwound after the press night of his new play Killer Joe. Game of Thrones villain Aiden Gillen and Kingsman actress Sophie Cookson — who also star in the play — joined him.
Channing Tatum is in town to launch the new live stage show of his film Magic Mike, meaning that you can now go see male strippers at the Hippodrome Casino. Tatum has vowed to get in shape in time to make a personal appearance but, in the meantime, he dined at Annabel’s, the private members club from the Burley group, in Mayfair on Monday night. The diet can start next week.
Now that Gymkhana is hosting celebrities most nights, JKS needs a bit more space. They opened a new restaurant — Brigadiers — in the City on Tuesday evening, with model Rafferty Law and rapper Professor Green among those who came by for a bite and a game of pool. The restaurant was one of the week’s most Instagrammed venues.
An I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here reunion took place on Wednesday afternoon. Stanley Johnson, father of Boris Johnson, had lunch at Boisdale of Canary Wharf with Georgia “Toff” Toffolo. The lunch menu included halibut, steak and a sizeable cheese board.
In Mayfair, legendary fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg enjoyed lunch in the tearoom at Claridge’s on Wednesday. She must feel at home at the hotel, having designed one of their suites.
