Of all the restaurants in all of London… Former One Direction singer Liam Payne was at Chiltern Firehouse on Friday night for a spot of dinner, just a few days before announcing his split from former X Factor judge Cheryl. A bit awkward, then, when one of her ex-husbands Jean Bernard Fernandez Versini also arrived for a bite. There was apparently something of a clash but no punches were thrown. It is Marylebone, after all.

Charles Saatchi and his girlfriend, What Not To Wear’s Trinny Woodall, returned to Scott’s on Saturday. The Mayfair restaurant is Saatchi’s favourite lunch spot. He is regularly seen on the terrace; it was, of course, the site of Saatchi’s assault of Nigella Lawson.

Nick Grimshaw was at Sexy Fish on Berkeley Square on Sunday sampling sashimi, sushi and ice cream as part of a new, party-vibe brunch he has curated for the Mayfair restaurant. He brought along some friends: McFly’s Dougie Poynter and activist Munroe Bergdorf were also spotted.

Chucs, the Italian in the Serpentine Sackler Building, put on a summery feast on Monday evening to mark the launch of the St Mary’s Children’s Fund. Mary Portas, aka Mary Queen of Shops, was among the supporters who dined on pesto drizzled burrata, tuna tartare, sea bream and risotto in the Zaha Hadid-designed building.

Deadpan comedian Jimmy Carr, arch host of 8 Out of 10 Cats and one-time tax avoider, was seen at the Hemsley & Hemsley cafe at Selfridges on Tuesday. The site, on the third floor of the department store, is the creation of cookbook writer sisters Jasmine and Melissa.

Somebody Else’s Guy singer Jocelyn Brown kicked off the Q Decades programme — a summer series of gigs — at St James’s restaurant Quaglino’s on Wednesday night. Former X Factor champion Alexandra Burke was among the guests tucking into dinner and enjoying the show.

Scythe matters. Aidan Turner, heartthrob star of BBC period drama Poldark, was at The National Theatre Café on Wednesday night after taking his bows in his new play The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Much to the disappointment of others present, he kept his top firmly on.

Mamma Mia. Actor Jeremy Irvine, the War Horse star who will next be seen playing a young Pierce Brosnan in Abba musical sequel Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, was seen at Brigadiers on Wednesday evening. The new Indian restaurant in the City is from the Sethis’ JKS Restaurants, also responsible for Ed Sheeran’s beloved Gymkhana.

Kelly Osbourne, singer and daughter of Ozzy, dined at The Ivy Market Grill on Wednesday night. She was at the Covent Garden restaurant — the first in the chain of spin-offs of the West End original — for a Pride dinner thrown by Gay Times.

Sylvester Stallone, legendary star of Rocky and Rambo, turns the ripe old age of 72 today, and he’s in London. He took his family for a slap-up dinner on Wednesday night, choosing Annabel’s in Mayfair. It’s good to see him out and about: he had to personally deny that he had died earlier this year after a strange hoax swept the internet.
