Platform1 (seems to have) closed down. The East Dulwich “permanent pop-up” that hosted rotating restaurant residencies is listed as permanently closed on Google, while its phone number is not in service. The website — not updated since December — remains live. The closure looks to have taken place some time ago.
The restaurant was formerly regarded as one of East Dulwich’s best, with Stoke Newington restaurant Perilla and Brixton’s Smoke and Salt starting life on the, uh, platform, as well as seasonal, serial residents Fodder. The quality and consistency on display was largely the responsibility of founder Chloe Gounder-Forbes, who implemented a rigorous audition process and strict format for applicants to follow in order to bring excellence out of structure: a tasting menu capped at £35pp, and bar snacks to go with it. This — with some flex — is precisely the formula that Perilla has adapted so successfully in its own space.
Eater has contacted Gounder-Forbes for comment. More soon.
