Claude Bosi’s Bibendum will do a one night Copenhagen collaboration
Bo Bech — formerly of Paustian and now chef-owner of Geist, from a distance — will cook at Bosi’s Michelin (man) magnet in South Kensington on 19 September. Tickets available by phone.
There is life in bars
Ziggy’s bar will reopen at Hotel Café Royal — site of “an absolute howling dog of a restaurant,” the “bitter and sour and relentless” Laurent at Café Royal. The reopening bar will hope to do better than that with its tribute to David Bowie; cocktails and décor will be inspired by The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
Pub masterchef will open another, this time in Chiswick
Henry Harris, who is behind The Hero of Maida and The Coach in Clerkenwell, will launch another pub and dining room in west London. As first reported by Big Hospitality, The Harlot will open on Chiswick High Road — expect the Anglo-French template from The Coach with Sicilian inflections.
Patagonian exile chef and fire-worshipper will cook in Mayfair
Francis Mallmann is cooking a six course dinner for £280. More here.
A new restaurant for Newington Green
This excellent dining neighbourhood sandwiched between Green Lanes and Islington will be the home of Cérès, which promises “contemporary southern European gastronomy.” A menu blends provençal French with Japanese and Cantonese — oxtail bourguignon in a dim sum bun — and suggests a prix fixe will be on the cards.
The most civilised restaurant crawl in London
Eater’s east London crawl is locked down, but now neighbourhood-of-the-moment Fitzrovia has a contender. “F’eat” will take place 13 September, with free food from 35 venues, including Monica Galetti’s Mere, and both sites of essential London coffee shop Kaffeine. No Bao or Rovi, though.
Get money off a burger, with the burger
Japanese restaurant Ichibuns is putting QR codes on top of burgers, as well as offering an app to play Japanese arcade game pachinko in the queue. The code earns 50% off; the game whiles away boredom. Win, win?
