Moio will open at 188 Stoke Newington High Street on 10 January. It is the debut restaurant from chef João Ferreira Pinto and sommelier Carolina W Seibel, replacing Rustic Twist opposite popular local pub The Three Crowns, according to Hot Dinners.
A sample menu reads several notches above the by-now hackneyed small-plate-modern-European menu template so familiar to London diners. A celeriac vichyssoise with deep-frozen grapes and a seafood barley — as opposed to rice — with bisque foam read classically; a veal tartare with cured egg yolk and Nardin anchovy emulsion reads invitingly, and a snack of morcilla with shiso leaf and smoked plum reads intriguingly.
Ferreira Pinto and Seibel most recently worked at Portland, the Michelin-starred central London restaurant operated by Will Lander and Daniel Morgenthau’s Woodhead restaurant group, which also oversees Clipstone and The Quality Chop House.
The full sample menu is below; more soon on the wine list.
