Hand-pulled noodle master wins big-deal food award
Wei Guirong, the chef behind London hits Xi’an Impression in Holloway and Master Wei in Bloomsbury, picked up the Observer Food Monthly’s “best newcomer” at last night’s award ceremony in London. Renowned author Fuchsia Dunlop, who profiled Guirong and Xi’an Impression for Eater London, presented the chef with the award. Jamie Oliver, whose Jamie’s Italian restaurant empire collapsed this year, won a reader choice award for best food personality — his books and TV shows keep him front of mind as well as in the black. London seafood restaurant The Oystermen took home best restaurant, which is also voted for by readers.
