Eater Talks: The legacy of St. John on its 25th anniversary
Wednesday, 16 October — 6:45pm
Eater London and the Ace Hotel will continue their ongoing food and restaurant industry discussion series in September.
On its 25th anniversary, a panel of former employees of Britain’s most iconic modern restaurant will discuss the legacy of St. John.
Eater London editor Adam Coghlan will host the latest Eater Talk in conversation with Jon Spiteri, the restaurant’s founding general manager, Dan Lepard, its original head of baking, and two of its more recent, distinguished alumni: Ravneet Gill, founder of Countertalk, and Lee Tiernan, the head chef and owner of Black Axe Mangal.
What has the restaurant done not just for restaurants in Britain, but for the reputation of British food, globally? What makes the St. John brand so singular? Is its legacy complicated? How British is it? How French is it? How Italian is it? Why do so many love it so much? And where, beyond Los Angeles, can it go next?
Join us on the 16th October to discuss one of the world’s most influential restaurants a quarter of a decade on. There will surely be stories.
This Eater London x Ace Hotel discussion will take place on Wednesday, 16 October from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost £15, and include one drink.
Arrival at 6:45 is recommended in order to begin the talk promptly at 7:00pm.
