The world’s best bar is not in London — according to one index
Controversial restaurant and bar award organisation World’s 50 Best has announced its new bar index, and London no longer takes top spot. Ryan Chetiyawardana’s Dandelyan took home “world’s best bar” last year, but its replacement, Lyaness, is now at #39, with Happiness Forgets on Hoxton Square at #40 and Bar Swift in Soho at #41. London’s best bar is now The Connaught Bar in Mayfair, at #2, with The Savoy Hotel’s famous American Bar at #5 and progressive Dalston bar Three Sheets at #16. Coupette, at #23, Scout, at #28, Kwant at #47, and Artesian at the Langham at #48 round off London’s representation, which makes up 20 percent of the list: A very solid showing. For the record, the “world’s best bar” is Dante in New York City.
