Jamie Oliver knows where to go for laksa — on Thursday evening the chef visited Sambal Shiok on Holloway Road for dinner. Owner Mandy Yin posted a photograph of the two of them on the restaurant’s Instagram.
Two sex symbols were out on the same night. Mick Jagger, Rolling Stone legend, and Mariella Frostrup, who is regularly voted as possessing the sexiest voice in the country, were both seen at Orasay in Notting Hill by a fellow diner.
While Nadine Coyle dines on rice and beans in the I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here jungle, her Girls Aloud bandmates have been enjoying more elegant fare. Kimberley Walsh marked her 38th birthday with dinner and drinks at Bagatelle in Mayfair on Friday evening, inviting Cheryl and Nicola Roberts. Not quite a reunion, but three out of five ain’t bad.
Last week’s ES featured Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn on the cover, and he was happy to pose with staff during the shoot. It took place at the Acoustic Cafe, on Stoke Newington’s Church Street. Corbyn is MP for nearby Islington North; this particular cafe is in Diane Abbott’s neck of the woods.

A very civilised lunch at Annabel’s on Monday to mark the launch of the club’s annual Christmas fair. Perrier-Jouët hosted a festive lunch in The Silver Room, with Amber Le Bon, Sabrina Percy and Grace Woodward in attendance. Burrata and baby beetroot was on the menu, as was miso black cod and cheesecake (served separately).
Also on Monday, Claire Foy was spotted by a Soho diner at Yeni, the Turkish restaurant on Beak Street. The actress has recently returned to The Crown after stepping aside for Olivia Colman in series 3. She has, however, now filmed flashback scenes which are expected to be included in series 4.
Jason Atherton opened yet another restaurant this week. He launched The Biltmore, in Mayfair, on Tuesday night and kicked things off with a party. Actress Jaime Winstone and DJ Nick Grimshaw were among the guests, and Jack Penate popped in to perform.
The Cow, the Westbourne Grove gastropub which does a mean oyster, had a party on Wednesday in aid of Shrimps, the fashion brand. Guests came equipped for the Dolly Parton theme, and tucked into pints of prawns, fish cakes and baked potatoes. Clueless star Alicia Silverstone, Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof were all among the guests.
Down in Soho, Daisy Lowe toasted Thanksgiving at a dinner thrown by brand Farfetch at local gem Andrew Edmunds. Turkey all round, naturally.
’Who’s that girl?’, you may have found yourself wondering if you were out in Mayfair on Thursday night. The answer? ‘Eve’s that girl.’ The rapper was performing at Sexy Fish as part of the restaurant’s fourth birthday celebrations.
