Max and Noel Venning of celebrated Dalston cocktail bar Three Sheets will open a natural wine bar and bistro in Highbury, north London, called Top Cuvée. The Vennings will partner up with Brodie Meah, currently of Leroy in Shoreditch, and chef Dan Miller, formerly of the Naughty Piglets group and lauded Fulham pub The Harwood Arms, according to Hot Dinners.
Details are currently light for the bar on Blackstock Road, between Finsbury Park and Clissold Park, but its formula will be familiar to frequenters of London’s contemporary wine scene: dishes that will put sourcing first; a rotating list of wines from small, mostly low-intervention producers; a communal table; a secondary operation as an off-license.
Between Holloway Road’s Provisions, Westerns Laundry, and Primeur, Vins and Linden Stores in Highbury, Jolene and Trangallan in Newington Green, and Weino Bib and Furanxo moving toward Dalston, the stretch of north London from Dalston to Holloway is increasingly looking like a nexus for neighbourhood wine bars and bistros of this ilk, with Sapling, another, closing in the last few weeks.
More soon on Top Cuvée.
