Modern central London restaurant Neo Bistro has shut down in Mayfair after the departure of former chef Mark Jarvis. It is understood that the lease for the site on Woodstock Street is up for rent, with a spokesperson for Stem and Anglo confirming that the restaurant had been closed since the start of 2019.
Jarvis’ departure from Neo Bistro was announced in December 2018, with his partnership with former Harwood Arms chef Alex Harper being retroactively described as a “consultant” role. At that time, the restaurant was ominously described as operating “until further notice.”
Neo Bistro, which received a glowing review from Marina O’Loughlin in the Guardian, was one of London’s most impressive restaurant openings in 2017, with Jarvis saying that he had “always had the place in my mind and was always working on the concept” in an interview with Great British Chefs.
Jarvis is most closely involved with the acclaimed, tasting menu-focussed restaurant Anglo in Farringdon. He is also owner of Stem, in Mayfair, where Sam Ashton-Booth is head chef; that restaurant was welcomed with acclaim by Jay Rayner in the Observer.
