Big-deal Mexican chef Enrique Olvera will cook at two London restaurants in March. Olvera, a Chef’s Table star and the chef behind acclaimed restaurants Pujol in Mexico City and Cosme and Atla in New York City, will cook dinner at Casa Pastor in Coal Drops Yard and brunch at Lyle’s, James Lowe’s Michelin-starred restaurant in Shoreditch.
At Casa Pastor, Olvera will recreate some of the recipes from his upcoming book Tu Casa Mi Casa: Mexican Recipes for the Home Cook (Phaidon Press), including herbed guacamole and chicharron, hamachi and corn aguachile, tamalitos de broccoli, and churros. At Lyle’s expect pozole, quesadilla with morels, tostadas, and every millennial’s favourite brunch dish ever: avocado toast. It will probably be better than other avocado toast in London.
Olvera opened Pujol in Mexico City in 2000; the restaurant is currently at #13 on the controversial World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. His New York City restaurant, Cosme, is at #25 on the same list, while he also operates Atla in the same city. Both Cosme and Atla have come to be regarded as two of New York’s best restaurants, while Pujol is frequently name-checked as Mexico City’s best.
Tickets for Enrique Olvera at Casa Pastor are priced at £65. Tickets for the event at Lyle’s are priced at £59.
