The Palmerston will close in East Dulwich this June after fifteen years. The gastropub has, in that time, become one of the area’s standout pubs and restaurants, serving one of East Dulwich’s best Sunday roasts.
The closure, as reported by Hot Dinners, was announced on Instagram, with the last day of service slated for 3 June 2019. The pub, which sits on Lordship Lane, has been open since 2004, existing in the context of the gentrification of the south east London neighbourhod.
Owner and executive chef Jamie Younger said:
“It is with a heavy heart to all our customers friends and supporters over the last 15yrs June 3rd will be our last day of The Palmerston as we know it. We have reached the end of our lease and unfortunately we are not being offered a new one. Please come say hi before we go.”
The Palmerston closed in summer 2018 for a complete refurbishment of its kitchen — the completion of the project, designed to ensure the longevity of the business, seems to have held no sway.
