Casa do Frango, the Algarvian piri piri chicken restaurant, is looking at a third site in Shoreditch to join its Southwark Street restaurant and its upcoming sister restaurant at Arcade Food Theatre, the London food court soon to open at Centre Point. The Portuguese specialists are looking at a restaurant just off Shoreditch High Street, according to Propel; a licensing application submitted to Hackney Council in the June 2019 list places the restaurant at 3 King John Court.
Specialising in piri piri chicken cooked over a wood-fired grill and accoutred with classic Portuguese sides, wines, and the inevitable pasteis de nata, Casa do Frango’s original restaurant opened on Southwark Street in summer 2018 and earned acclaim from Jay Rayner in the Observer, with the critic saying that it’s “salty and spicy in all the right places.”
Its second restaurant, a smaller operation appropriately named Casita do Frango, will join a sando shop by celebrated pop-up duo Tātā Eatery, modern Turkish restaurant Oklava, photogenic pastry purveyors Pophams Bakery, successful steak chain Flat Iron, Nikkei cuisine specialists Chotto Matte, and Pastorcito from the Harts Group at Arcade Food Theatre in Centre Point.
