Sweet Chick, an American chicken and waffle restaurant backed by one of history’s all-time greatest rappers, Nas, is expected to open on the site vacated by the diminished Italian restaurant chain, Carluccio’s, in Market Place, off Oxford Street in central London.
According to MCA and Big Hospitality, Sweet Chick’s U.K. debut is subject to “legal completion” but is expected to open this year. The brand, which has locations in New York and Los Angeles, is owned by restaurateur John Seymour. Seymour was in and around Oxford Circus yesterday.
Sweet Chick has locations on the lower east side in Manhattan; in Williamsburg and Prospect Heights, Brooklyn; Queens; and, the most recent location, on Fairfax in Los Angeles, which opened in 2017.
About itself, the restaurant says:
Along with some of the best fried chicken and waffles in New York City, we’re serving new American comfort food. Rustic but modern American comfort food and twists on classic dishes and cocktails, plus home-baked desserts that will make you feel like a kid again.
Only last month, on the other side of Oxford Street, two new fried chickens shops expanded their portfolios, Chick’n on Wardour Street, and Coqfighter on Beak Street.
More soon.
