Gold, a new restaurant in Notting Hill’s Portobello Road, opened its doors for its official first night on Monday, but they’d had some impressive punters for its soft launch. Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice — along with Beatrice’s boyfriend Edoardo Mozzi — ate there on Friday.
Gold isn’t the only new restaurant in town. This week also saw the opening of Sette, the new restaurant on the ground floor of the Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge. Singer Pixie Lott and her model boyfriend Oliver Cheshire were among the guests raising a glass to the launch on Wednesday evening.
Lee Ryan, the former Blue singer, dined at Park Chinois on Wednesday evening. But this was no regular dinner: he was filming for Celebs Go Dating, a reality TV show where celebs go dating.
Double date night in Marylebone. Luther actor Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina Dhowre were spotted at Chiltern Firehouse on Tuesday evening. They dined with rapper Stormzy and his long-term girlfriend Maya Jama, a TV presenter. The quartet are close: Stormzy performed at Idris and Sabrina’s wedding in Morocco earlier this year. Maybe this dinner was a thank you.
We’ll always have Paris… Hilton. The socialite, hotel chain heiress and occasional actress, who’s currently plotting a return to the music charts, was in London this week. On Tuesday, she was spotted dining with a friend at Isabel, the Mayfair restaurant. She must have been stocking up: she’s about to set off for Cash & Rocket, a charity drive across Europe.
Grace Chatto of Clean Bandit and Paul Chuckle of the Chuckle Brothers were among the culture vultures at The Trafalgar Studios on Wednesday night, which held the press night for Education, Education, Education. Afterwards, they headed across the street for a bite and a pint at Walker’s of Whitehall.
Paul must have needed a drink after a run-in with Sinitta, the former singer and X Factor mentor. On his way home he tweeted: “I spoke to @sinittaofficial tonight who TOTALLY blanked me! Cheers Sinitta! I’m going home to smash my ‘So Macho’ vinyl... after I’ve played it for the very last time!”
Not far away, presenters Laura Whitmore and Angela Scanlon were out for a slap-up dinner at Scott’s. They were among guests hosted in the subterranean private dining room.
