Yann Couvreur, a rising star of the fiercely competitive patisserie circuit in Paris, will open his debut London store and patisserie in Mayfair later this year. Couvreur, who earlier this year cancelled residencies at Mayfair hotel Claridge’s and world-famous Knightsbridge department store Harrods, will now bring his eclairs, tarts, and Paris Brest to Claridge’s from 4 — 11 September.
Couvreur’s signature pastries include a buckwheat version of the iconic Breton kouign-amann; a Paris Brest, and a fig and shiso tart. At Claridge’s, his offer will include a dark chocolate and tonka bean eclair, a lime and shiso tart, and the Paris Brest, which has been slowly appearing across London menus since experiencing a New York City revival last year.
Couvreur, who has amassed almost 250,000 Instagram followers thanks to the singular combination of photogenic patisserie and his pet fox, has three stores in Paris — the first opened in 2016. Alongside the likes of Claire Damon, Cedric Grolet, and Mori Yoshida, as well as the longtime leaders Claire Heitzler, Pierre Hermé, and Jacques Genin, he is currently at the forefront of Paris’ legendary patisserie ecosystem.
No date has been set for Couvreur’s opening in London. More soon.
