Barnes will once again have a neighbourhood restaurant operated by top tier restaurateurs Phil Howard and Rebecca Mascarenhas, as Sonny’s Kitchen — which closed after 33 years, this July — becomes Church Road.
Two ex-Elystan Street staff — head chef Sam Astley-Dean and restaurant manager Alan Parry — will head up the new opening, moving over from Howard and Mascarenhas’s Michelin-starred restaurant in Chelsea, according to Hot Dinners. Initial dishes look to replicate Sonny’s’s previous success, based on comforting dishes executed to a high standard: sweetcorn and clams with a clam and chorizo crumpet; monkfish tail with late summer tomatoes; a roasted fig pudding with fig leaf ice cream, the ice cream of fashion right now.
The restaurant will open 25 September, with a bar menu and private dining room added to the main dining room.
More soon.
