First Dates host pivots to snack competition on Channel 4
Popular maître d’ and First Dates host Fred Sirieix will guide a clutch of U.K. chefs as they seek to recreate Kit Kats, Monster Munch, and the Burger King Whopper. Snackmasters, which debuts on Channel 4 1 October, will see top U.K. chefs attempt to replicate the snacks, before presenting them to the companies that make them for evaluation. It appears to borrow from the wildly popular Bon Appetit video series ‘Pastry Chef Makes Gourmet X,’ in which Claire Saffitz replicates Hot Pockets, Cheetos, Doritos, and more popular American snacks. Chefs include the Cinnamon Group’s Vivek Singh, two-Michelin-starred Midsummer House’s Daniel Clifford, and Northcote’s Lisa Atherton. The Monster Munch episode looks set to be a highlight.
