It remains to be seen if Gordon Ramsay’s Lucky Cat, his new Mayfair restaurant, will prove to be his Lucky Charm. But the launch party on Monday evening certainly suggests the celebrities will keep coming in. Ramsay himself was there, of course, as was his wife Tana.
David Beckham, their old pal, showed up with his son Brooklyn, with actor Idris Elba and singer Vanessa White also among the guests.
Well the country’s going to the dogs, isn’t it? Nevertheless, as Britain burns even the busiest of politicians in Boris Johnson’s government sometimes need a chocolate croissant and a 99p filter coffee.
EyeSpyMP, the Twitter account beloved of nosy Westminster types, spotted Liz Truss striking a deal at Tothill Street Pret on Saturday lunchtime. The trade secretary was, it claims, “taking security very seriously with [her] red ministerial folder out on show.” Meanwhile, Conservative Eurosceptic and no-deal Brexit advocate Bill Cash is still okay with at least one European tradition: the cafe. He visited Richoux in Mayfair on Thursday.

It’s been a bit of a busy week for Love Island-ers at Sushi Samba. Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard, who met on the most recent series but failed to win the big money, were at the Heron Tower restaurant on Monday evening. Francesca Allen, who didn’t really find much romance in Majorca, kept her feet closer to the ground: she was at the new Covent Garden outpost on Wednesday night.
This year’s GQ Men Of The Year Awards — hosted at Tate Modern on Tuesday — led to some very late nights, one fight between Piers Morgan and Gordon Ramsay over vegan food, and some very major hangovers. But Taron Egerton was miraculously out and about the next evening. The star of Rocketman and Kingsman was spotted by a Mayfair local on Wednesday night, dining at Scott’s on Mount Street.
Another night in west London for Made In Chelsea’s Binky Felstead, fan favourite on E4’s long-running scripted reality show. She was out with her mum, Jane, and sister Anna-Louise on Wednesday night, having dinner at The Ivy Chelsea Garden.
On the other side of the reality TV spectrum, Geordie Shore veteran Vicky Pattinson was also out on Wednesday evening. She was spotted in Clapton, where she and her boyfriend dined at La Mela in Marsh Hill.
