Greggs lays down the gauntlet to food deliverers
It’s a hot item juggernaut, it’s a vegan sausage roll and steak bake slinger; it wants to deliver those things nationwide! It’s: Greggs. Chief executive Stuart Whiteside has told City AM that the company will soon announce plans to expand on its delivery trials, which began on Deliveroo as part of a one-upmanship battle between the blue delivery kangaroo and Uber Eats. It could also include extending bakery opening times from 6p.m. — 9p.m. to capitalise on that well-established demographic, the early evening sausage roll crowd. [City AM]
And in other news...
- Silence London’s taco doubters at a new restaurant in Surrey Quays.
- Where to find good WiFi and better coffee — the best cafes to work from in London.
- Brick House Bread supplied south London restaurants Levan and Peckham with bread before it suddenly closed. Now Levan — which owns the lease to the bakery’s former Peckham space, and did not renew it — is opening a new space in its place.
- Good tweet:
It’s kinda mad that HP Sauce have changed their label to reflect the fact that Big Ben is covered in scaffolding like some sort of condiment information service. pic.twitter.com/VMtfjgi9fe
