Loyle Carner, acclaimed hip hop artist and Yotam Ottolenghi fan, has a second passion: food. So much so that he runs a cookery school for children with ADHD, also known as Chilli Con Carner. Get it? On Tuesday night, he led something of a school trip to Silo, the zero-waste restaurant south of Hackney Wick.
Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx was in London this week, on the promo trail for his new film Just Mercy. On Monday evening, he headed out for dinner at Amazonico, and was snapped leaving by photographers, having forgotten to zip up his fly. The restaurant on Berkeley Square has an Amazon theme, with pretty over-the-top interiors. It should not be confused with The Rainforest Cafe on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Foxx was back on Berkeley Square a night later, this time with his Just Mercy co-star Michael B Jordan, of Black Panther fame. The pair were seen at Sexy Fish, mere yards away from Amazonico.
Back to Laylow this week. Model Neelam Gill was at the Notting Hill members’ club and restaurant on Monday evening for a dinner thrown by beauty brand Barkha. Other guests included singer Alice Chater, and former Love Islanders Olivia Buckland and Montana Brown.
Billie Faiers, formerly of The Only Way Is Essex, turned 30 this week and enjoyed a surprise birthday party at the home familiar to viewers of her Mummy Diaries. But while her mum was doing the decorating, her boyfriend kept her out of the way. He took her for lunch at Felix in Brentwood.
It’s been a bit of a stressful week for the royal family, following Harry and Meghan’s announcement that they would be stepping back as senior royals, but some junior members were able to paint the town red. Princess Eugenie, daughter of Prince Andrew, was seen dining at The Connaught on Wednesday night. One imagines that diners may have wanted to ask all about the situation, which would make a change from talking about her father.
Rapper and DJ Ironik marked his forthcoming birthday this week at Jakata, the bar and restaurant on Soho’s Ganton Street. Dancer Abbie Quinnen — girlfriend of Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard — was among the well-wishers at the party, which took place on Wednesday night.
