Trad French bistro Petit Pois has closed in Hoxton Square, bringing down the curtain on three-and-a-half years of Gallic dining and gigantic bowls of chocolate mousse. The restaurant is listed as permanently closed on Google, with an Instagram post pre-Christmas — aptly illustrated by a bowl of that mousse — detailing the need for a refurb that will amount to effectively opening a whole new restaurant at 8-9 Hoxton Square.
Petit Pois earned a Bib Gourmand in Michelin’s 2018 announcement, with the tire eaters praising “its lively atmosphere, endearing honesty and flavoursome, ingredient-led cooking.” It ironically stood out for being subdued, on a square whose restaurants tend towards the loud and brash; it also had the boon of sister bar Happiness Forgets, which remains one of London’s most atmospheric and quietly excellent cocktail spots.
Eater has contacted Petit Pois for comment: More soon on the future of the former bistro.
