London pizza supremos Santa Maria and Firezza will partner on a new pizza bar in Clapton called A Slice of Blue, which will open in two weeks time, according to Santa Maria co-founder Pasquale Chionchio. Chionchio, his co-founder Angelo Ambrosio, and Firezza founder Edin Basic have taken over The Elephant’s Head in Clapton, in a move first reported by Propel in October.
While initially billed as a pizza pub, Chionchio clarified to Eater that the focus will be on pizza, live music, and more of a bar atmosphere than Santa Maria’s other pub project, The Red Lion, which is next door to the original pizza restaurant in Ealing and maintains something of the building’s rusticity. He says that the pizza — consistently some of London’s best — will be the same as at the other restaurants, but with a focus on the vegan pizzas that have become mainstays at newer restaurants in Fitzrovia and Fulham; craft beers on tap and in glass will anchor the drinks list.
More soon.
