Last week saw Taylor Swift spend the evening at Bob Bob Ricard. Her London restaurant exploration continues: she has been seen twice at Gymkhana — the Indian restaurant beloved of the A List — and was there most recently on Saturday. If she’d been there on Wednesday, she would have bumped into actor Jude Law. It is possible that Swift got the recommendation from the Eater London website or her friend Ed Sheeran, a frequent visitor.
Meghan Markle is back in the country, and will be around town for the next few days before returning to North America and her new life away from the royal family. So she and husband Harry chose carefully for one of their last lunches here, eating at The Goring — one of the Queen’s favourites — ahead of an Endeavour Fund event on Thursday night.
A 21st birthday generally involves a few pints down the local or, perhaps, a private room at a favourite bar. Not for the Beckhams.
Brooklyn, eldest son of David and Victoria, reached the milestone this week, and marked the event with two outings. He and his parents had lunch at Oswald’s, who provided a ‘cake’ made up of 21 glazed ring doughnuts. The main celebration, though, waited until the evening, where siblings Romeo, Cruz and Harper joined for dinner: Wagyumafia’s Hisato Hamada was brought in to host a pop-up meal, topped off with a red velvet birthday cake.
Also on Wednesday night, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were out and about. They got together for dinner at Isabel in Mayfair. Beatrice’s fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, was also there: they are scheduled to marry in May.
The weather has been ... Better. But it’s always sunny at Annabel’s, thanks to its domed terrace restaurant. On Friday, Australian fashion brand Zimmerman hosted a breakfast there, with guests including actress Pippa Bennett-Warner, cookbook queen Jasmine Hemsley and model Sam Rollinson starting the day right with a bite to eat and a fashion presentation.
International Women’s Day isn’t until this weekend, but lingerie brand Ann Summers got ahead this week by hosting its event on Tuesday morning. A breakfast held at The Club at The Ivy, Kelly Brook and Love Island’s Megan Barton-Hanson were among the guests coming together to celebrate the occasion.
This year’s series of Celebs Go Dating has seen former Eastenders actor Dean Gaffney, The Only Way Is Essex’s James Lock and Made In Chelsea’s Olivia Bentley search for love. They all got together to celebrate their hunt on Tuesday evening, choosing Soho’s Scarlett Green. The Antipodean restaurant is on Noel Street.
Hankies, which offers North Indian food in tapas-style, brought its third outpost to London with a bang on Wednesday evening. Adding to their sites at Marble Arch and Shaftesbury Avenue, the growing empire arrived in Haymarket with a dinner attended by model Amber Le Bon and former Big Brother inmate contestant Imogen Thomas.
