The Chef Behind London’s Greatest Seafood Boil Pops Up in Farringdon

Tom Zahir Browne’s Decatur — responsible for perhaps the most singular, delicious meal kit to emerge from lockdown — will take over the kitchen at Quality Wines from 29 September

Tom Zahir Browne’s Decatur, responsible for a truly outstanding seafood boil — and with it one of the best meal kits of 2020 — will take over the kitchen at Quality Wines in Farringdon from 29 September to 16 October.

The menu follows in the footsteps of the kitchen it takes over, chalked up on a blackboard and finishing off with cannoli — this time flavoured to replicate King Cake, the New Orleans classic. The chargrilled oysters for which Decatur was best known before the seafood boil era take top billing, with New Orleans barbecue shrimp; a crab, okra, and shrimp gumbo; and shrimp and grits some further standouts. The only Crystal flowing will be hot sauce, with reservations taken Wednesday — Sunday.

Part of the effort will go towards raising funds for people affected by Hurricane Ida, which has devastated much of New Orleans and Louisiana — £1, or more if people wish, from every bill will go to local charities and mutual aid groups on the ground.
