Welcome back to Insta Stories, a column examining the London restaurant scene through the often-problematic medium of Instagram. This week’s filter is cuisson.

News of the week

At last, a glimmer of hope for restaurants this week, as Boris Johnson laid down a roadmap out of the current lockdown. Sure, “roadmap” is a strangely and perhaps alarmingly antiquated term, with its associations of exasperated parents feuding over a tattered A-Z in a layby 50 miles off-track from the planned destination, but, like, it’s better than nothing? And so the booking windows opened, the hiring announcements proliferated, and the memes rolled in. Bring on 12 April / 17 May / 21 June!

Excess of the week

Perhaps it’s just a coincidence; perhaps it’s everyone getting seriously demob happy. But people were getting wild in the kitchen this week.

Devilish delicacy of the week

Not cross buns?

Burgeoning trend of the week

Emphatic confirmation that toad in the hole is on the rise.

Tiktok of the week

Logical sequel: a mash-up with the “Can I get pregnant?” guy.

Dish of the week

A literal curry-puff-cum-croissant

Shot of the week

Tired: green pasta
